with an appropriate inflationary measure.
MLA College is pleased to announce it will be awarding a number of bursaries in 2025/2026 to applicants who have annual incomes of less than £25,000 (or equivalent). Bursaries will also be available for women (UK or non-UK residents) to support Women into Maritime and Women into Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM). The bursary of £500, which comes in the form of a fee reduction, will be made on completion of the enrolment process, following the production of the required evidence. Please note, this is not an annual award.

MLA College tackle gender equality with Women in Maritime Bursary scheme.
Launched in March 2021 to support International Women’s Day, and to tackle gender inequalities in the sector, MLA College introduced their Women in Maritime Bursary scheme.
The bursary of £500, which comes in the form of a fee reduction, is available to all new female students enrolling onto any of our maritime related degree programmes.

In collaboration with CIFAL City of London and UNITAR, we now offer a United Nations Scholarship Scheme.
This provides a 10% tuition fee reduction for all United Nations employees and their immediate families. The programmes, delivered by MLA College, are validated and awarded by the University of Plymouth, and have been created alongside industry experts to provide individuals with specific knowledge and skills required for development within their sectors.

Who is eligible for the scheme?
Any personnel currently employed by the United Nations, or a United Nations Agency and immediate family members. Evidence of employment will be required at the application stage.
What programmes are included in the Scholarship?
The Scholarship can be applied to any degree programme with MLA College, a full list of degrees, in addition to the Sustainability Suite, can be viewed here. The Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or bursary scheme, except for the ‘Women in Maritime’ Bursary.
How much is the Scholarship and how is it applied?
The Scholarship is a 10% fee reduction on the tuition fees for any degree programme offered by MLA College, subject to admissions criteria. The details of the Scholarship will be made outlined in your offer letter when applying for your degree. Offer letters and Scholarships are valid for the term you have applied for. If you defer until a later term, fees may change. The offer cannot be exchanged for cash.
How do I apply for the Scholarship?
When applying for a degree you will need to make the Admissions Team aware that you wish to apply for the Scholarship. You can do this by uploading one of the below documents to your online application:
• A Payslip clearly showing United Nations employment.
• A copy of your contract of employment.
Immediate family members wishing to take advantage of the scheme must provide one of the above which relates to the family member currently employed by the United Nations or a United Nations Agency, plus:
• A copy of a birth, marriage certificate or civil partnership which clearly shows the relationship.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with BIMCO, the largest international shipping association for shipowners, charterers, shipbrokers and agents. If you are a student whose tuition fees are being paid by your organisation and your organisation is a member of BIMCO, they may qualify for a 20% discount. Please check with our Admissions Team during the application process.
Upon successful completion of their programme, graduates are invited to join the MLA College Alumni Society.
They will also have the opportunity to mentor current MLA College students, or be a
mentee themselves, should they be looking for either academic or professional guidance.
There is no cost associated with the Alumni Society.
Citizens of Singapore who have been offered a place to study with MLA College are eligible to apply.

MLA College has made a pledge to support the British Armed Forces Community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated fairly and should not face disadvantages when seeking to access public or private goods and services in the UK.
To celebrate the signing of the Covenant MLA College will provide a ten per cent discount on all degree programmes to all serving UK Armed Forces Personnel, Veterans and members of their immediate families.

If you are a member of a Professional Body such as the Nautical Institute, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers or IMarEST then we want to know about it. Students who are a member of a Professional Body could receive a 10% discount on tuition fees*.
Make the admissions team aware of your memberships at the application stage as they will need to be verified.
*The Professional Bodies mentioned above is not an exhaustive list and discount levels may change
Undergraduate and postgraduate students from the UK, and some from the EU/EEA who normally reside in England and Northern Ireland, can apply to the Student Loans Company to help fund their studies. For more information about student loans and to check eligibility click here.
MLA College undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply to the Student Loans Company for funding to partially pay for their tuition fees.
Some important information before you apply:
Students enrolling on an undergraduate programme in May 2025 can apply for a tuition fee loan of up to £4,500 per academic year. Students enrolling in September 2025 or later can apply for up to £4,625.00. Please note that students who choose not to apply for the maximum loan amount will be responsible for a larger personal contribution to cover any shortfall.

In addition, undergraduate students with a disability can apply for a means tested maintenance loan to cover day-to-day expenses and/or equipment which is paid to the student.

Postgraduate students enrolling onto a full MSc programme may also apply for funding. However, please note that MSc top-up only programmes are not eligible.
Postgraduate students can apply for up to a maximum of £12,167 which is split over the duration of the programme and paid directly to the student. Postgraduate loans can be used for living expenses or can be put towards tuition fees.
