Information for students applying for Student Loans Company (SLC) funding
Undergraduate and postgraduate students from the UK, and some from the EU/EEA who normally reside in England and Northern Ireland, can apply to the Student Loans Company to help fund their studies. For more information about student loans and to check eligibility click here.
Undergraduate Students
MLA College undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply to the Student Loans Company for funding to partially pay for their tuition fees.
Some important information before you apply:
Student Loans Company tuition fee loans are paid directly to MLA College and are pro-rata depending on the length of the programme.
The amount you receive may not cover the full programme fees, and you will be liable to pay any shortfall.
If the programme is more than 1 year in duration funding must be re-applied for each year.
Students enrolling for an undergraduate programme can apply for a maximum loan of £4,500 per academic year to contribute towards their tuition fees. Please note that any shortfall paid by students who do not apply for the maximum amount will be higher.

In addition, undergraduate students with a disability can apply for a means tested maintenance loan to cover day-to-day expenses and/or equipment which is paid to the student.
Postgraduate students enrolling onto a full MSc programme may also apply for funding. However, please note that MSc top-up only programmes are not eligible.
Postgraduate students can apply for up to a maximum of £12,167 which is split over the duration of the programme and paid directly to the student. Postgraduate loans can be used for living expenses or can be put towards tuition fees.

If you are a student whose tuition fees are being paid by your organisation and your organisation isa member of BIMCO, they may qualify for a 20% discount.
Upon successful completion of their programme, graduates are invited to join the MLA College Alumni Society. Among other benefits, alumni receive a 25% discount for any programmes should they return to their studies with MLA College.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced they will continue to provide the Training Grant from the Maritime Cluster Fund (MCF). Marine and maritime citizens from Singapore can apply for up to 70% funding to study with MLA College.
MLA College has made a pledge to support the British Armed Forces Community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. To celebrate, MLA College will provide a 10% discount on all degree programmes to all serving UK Armed Forces Personnel, Veterans and members of their immediate families.
If you are a member of a Professional Body such as the Nautical Institute, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers or IMarEST then we want to know about it. Students who are a member of a Professional Body could receive a 10% discount on tuition fees.
