At MLA College, we believe that a strong bond between student and tutor is the key to success.  Our Student Experience Officers have been appointed to assist both the student and their tutor with developing and maintaining this important relationship.

Your Experience Team

The MLA College Student Experience Team, Abigail White and Charlie Vosper, are the first point of contact for enrolled students who are in need of pastoral support, including requests under the Extenuating Circumstances policy for matters related to their academic studies. Abigail and Charlie are also responsible for monitoring student engagement and academic progression and will contact students directly to offer assistance should they feel that intervention is needed.

Support Services for students are offered through MLA College and also through our partner, the University of Plymouth.

From the moment you enrol as an MLA College student, the Student Experience Team will be there to provide any assistance you may need.

Student Representatives

MLA College is keen to collaborate with its entire student body when it comes to delivering educational excellence, which is why we have appointed three Student Representatives.

Additional Support Services

Although MLA College students will not be able to access the one-on-one services offered by the University, there are a wide range of online resources and self-help books and leaflets available for partner students such as SHINE (Self Help Inspiring E-resources).  Find out more about the wellbeing services that are available through the University of Plymouth.

Disability Services

We like to ensure we have everything in place for you before you get started on your first module, and are happy to discuss your needs via email, phone or virtual meetings platforms.  The Student Experience Officers are the first point of contact for students who require additional support whilst studying.

Contact your Student Experience Officers as soon as you have enrolled to discuss any additional requirements you may have.

Learning Development Services

Alongside the guidance you receive from your personal tutor, the University of Plymouth have put together an online collection of guides and resources to assist partner students with their studies.  Cite them right – an online referencing guide and LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) are amongst the services offered to MLA College students and can be accessed through the University’s website.

Library & Digital Support

As well as the in-house MLA College Technical team, the University of Plymouth IT Services is available to assist students with Primo and Pearl queries.  You can contact them via email, and have also produced self-help and PDF guides that you may find useful.
