MLA College launches Blue Leadership Scholarship to train maritime professionals for the decarbonisation era
19.03.2026
MLA College has launched the Blue Leadership Scholarship. This new initiative supports maritime professionals preparing to lead the industry’s transition towards more sustainable operations.
The scholarship recognises the role experienced professionals play as the maritime sector responds to decarbonisation targets, evolving regulation and growing environmental accountability.
Through the scholarship, MLA College expands access to specialist education in sustainable maritime operations, giving professionals the opportunity to strengthen their leadership capability while continuing their careers at sea or ashore.
Supporting next generation of maritime leaders
For more than a decade, MLA College has specialised in flexible higher education designed for professionals working across the maritime sector, both at sea and ashore.
The Blue Leadership Scholarship builds on that focus and helps:
Expand access to sustainable maritime education.
Support professionals from diverse regions and backgrounds.
Strengthen leadership capacity across the industry.
By supporting professionals already working within the sector, MLA College contributes to maritime industry’s long-term sustainability and resilience.
Scholarship opportunities
The Blue Leadership Scholarship applies to two MLA College programmes validated by the University of Plymouth:

Both programmes use flexible, tutor-supported distance learning, allowing maritime professionals to continue working while studying.
