Himasara is a PhD researcher at the Sustainability Research Institute and school of Architecture,Computing and Engineering , University of East London, focusing on the mechanical characterization of bio-based construction materials, particularly Sugarcane Bagasse–Composites. His research interests include sustainable construction materials, concrete retrofitting, and low-carbon building systems. Before joining UEL, he served as a Teaching Assistant in civil engineering department at the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, where he gained experience in structural design, laboratory instruction, and materials research. Himasara’s work contributes to the development of environmentally responsible and resilient materials for the future of construction, improving sustainability.
