Dr Roy Kaushik is the Adviser to the world’s 4th largest shipping registry, a Board Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology (IMarEST), the Vice President of the Nautical Institute (NI), the Chair of the Nautical Institute Hong Kong, and a Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Marine Technology (HKIMT), IMarEST, and NI. He holds four ‘Charter’ & five ‘Fellow’ statuses; PRI assessor for Chartered Master Mariner (CMMar) and Chartered Marine Technologist (CMarTech). He is a Committee Member of 3 renowned classification societies: the ABS, BV, and LR and is an LNG safety, operation, joint venture start-up & management expert. Kaushik is a Doctorate (PhD) in Maritime Management, ‘Harvard-educated negotiator & mediator, and an expert witness on tankers & gas carriers and is also the first Asian origin Chartered Master Mariner and the first in Southeast/Far East Asia and China. He is one of the founding members of the Nautical Institute Armillary Club and secured the world’s first Green Award to the LNG vessel and the operator. He was involved in Argentina, Indonesia, & Japan’s 1st LNG STS operations & commissioning of HYLNG, Tianjin, Dhabol, and Adriatic-LNG terminals. Kaushik is the first Overseas Representative of the Registration Authority of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, UK. Kaushik is the Govt. Adviser and Mentor to cadets/ interns and professionals of the Marine Society, UK, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is well known in the maritime clusters of the East and West.
Kaushik completed his PhD on Maritime Management and his Master’s on International Trade Law from the University of Northumbria, UK. He was a full-time Nautical Studies Lecturer at the NAFC Marine Centre/ University of Highlands and Islands (UHI), UK.
