Dr. Deniece M. Aiken is a maritime lawyer and governance specialist with experience spanning academia, international maritime law and policy development. She is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Estonian Maritime Academy, Tallinn University of Technology, where her work focuses on maritime law, sustainability, and global governance.
She holds a PhD in Maritime Affairs and an MSc in Maritime Law and Policy from the World Maritime University in Sweden. Dr. Aiken serves on the Special Advisory Committee for Maritime Domain Awareness and is a member of the European Society of International Law. As a consultant in leadership, global transport planning, and project evaluation, she supports initiatives that strengthen maritime governance and institutional capacity worldwide.
A committed advocate for gender equity, she is the Founding President of both the WMU Women’s Association and WISTA Jamaica, and a founding member of WiMAC. Beyond her professional life, she was an active member of several dance troupes, nurturing her appreciation for creativity and collaboration.
